Mt. Artaban is the lowest of the three main peaks of Gambier Island. On this moderately strenuous hike we will visit the site of its one-time BC Forest Service lookout tower. The tower has deteriorated to a pile of boards, but outstanding views, especially of the Britannia Range, remain. Roundtrip distance is 10 km (6.2 mi) with an elevation gain of 615 m (2020 ft). Please note that this hike will go ahead only if there is sufficient interest. Since the trailhead is not accessible by the usual ferry service, we will have to arrange for a water taxi.
If cost ($50.00, booked online in advance) is not a deterrent, contact Mark (604. 552. 0727) to register your interest.
